As I am DEEP in the Stanley Cup playoff world right now, it was only fitting for me to read a hockey romance right now! And Match Penalty was the perfect fit. It had a great combo of actual hockey content, player dynamics, and the romance itself between Cassy and JP. Kenna King created an amazing hockey world that I am so intrigued by!
Something I loved about this book was the solid groups of friendships that we saw develop for both Cassy and JP. I especially loved how JP was able to maintain a platonic female friendship with Angelica, something that is so important to me for authors to showcase. I love a good friends to lover romance, but platonic friendships are SO important to have as well.
I was so excited to discover upon finishing this book that Kenna King has a whole series of books set around the Hawkeyes hockey team! There are so many characters who I’d love to get to know more, and I’ll be quite happy to hang out with the Hawkeyes franchise for a while longer!
Thank you to the author and Chasing Books PR for the opportunity to read and review this book! I received a free advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
