Emily Shacklette writes love stories like no other, and Everywhere You Look is just another addition to her amazing collection. The dual POVs between Dean and Luke and their mutual past crushes was soooooo good! I love a marriage of convenience trope, but I especially loved the tenderness between these characters and their friendship turning into more. Dean and Luke are a great example of a chosen family- something Emily does so well in all of her books!
Dean and Luke transitioning from dear friends to more was the cutest thing. I loved seeing their relationship play out and seeing them develop closer ties with Luke’s nieces was so precious. Watching their family become close was beautiful, and I loved seeing all the characters I’ve become familiar with through Emily’s other books
It’s important to me to mention the care with which Emily writes about the religious trauma that Luke and his sister, Gigi, experienced. There is far too much hatred for queer love in this world. Emily’s books are a beautiful example of how powerful and heartwarming queer love stories are. Love is love, always, and I’m grateful that Emily took the time and care in particular with Luke’s story.
