This book was full of yearning, love, and heart. Date Night in December is a true second chance story between Connor and Laney. After Connor realizes that if he doesn’t change his priorities, he may lose Laney for good, he’s able to truly commit himself to being a good partner and not just a good businessman. His effort is the best part of this story, as well as the open communication that they’re able to develop over time.
Jaqueline Snowe’s stories are always full of warmth and heart, but Date Night in December especially embodied that. Connor and Laney are an imperfect couple in an imperfect world. It’s their determination to fight for one another that’s where the true love story lies. They show how love is a choice that we get to make each and every day.
While this book is in a holiday setting, I could have read it and loved it any time of year. There was something so poignant about the honest and raw conversations between these characters, and I loved seeing them be so real- both with each other and with themselves. I loved every minute of this book and seeing Connor and Laney redefine what their love was to now be able to last a lifetime.
