Risky Business was such a fun read! Jess Oliver’s meet cute and chemistry is immediately electric. This book has such a unique premise for a love story- a secret identity amidst a business competition and gender stereotypes. It was easy to be invested both in the love story between Jess and Oliver as well as the competition for Jess’s company Wyst.
Besides the romance, Risky Business also highlights the way that women can be mistreated in the workplace. From the difficult situation with Jess’s ex to how much easier it is for her to find funding pretending to be a man, there is a lot to unpack regarding gender stereotypes in the workplace. I appreciated the honest perspective and loved seeing Jess fight for what she knew was right.
This was a great piece of fiction, and I enjoyed it! From the European setting to the shenanigans that Jess, Oliver, and everyone else gets up to, this book has something for everyone. Plus, who doesn’t love a nod to a Shakespeare play- The Twelfth Night!
Thank you to Avon and Harper Voyager for the opportunity to read and review this book! I received a free advance copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
