I loved The Heat of the Moment! Josh and Lily have not one, but TWO delightful meet-cutes, and there was immediate chemistry between them. Josh is a firefighter, same as Lily’s late husband, and this made for many emotional and important conversations between them. This book portrayed grief and love at the same time, as well as showing how those we lose are never fully gone.
Penny, Lily’s daughter, was such a highlight of this story. It was so sweet to see her curiosity grow with Josh and to see their interactions. I don’t read a ton of single-parent novels, but I really enjoyed this one. Josh’s love for Lily AND Penny rang so true, and it was so beautiful to see.
Josh and Lily are such real characters. My heart completely broke for Lily and her grief over her late husband, Daniel. Finding love amidst that grief is such a raw and powerful topic, and I’m glad that The Heat of the Moment touched on it with so much compassion and love.
