What a fun story this was! The Phone Swap was such a unique premise that ended up being a beautiful story about second chances, rebuilding trust, and, of course, birds. Allie and Milo come from entirely different worlds but through the funny mishap of swapped phones, eventually discover how much more they really do relate to one another.

We live in such a digital world nowadays, and The Phone Swap does a great job of highlighting both the good and bad about that world. Milo’s role as an actor forces him into the public eye in a way that Allie’s work as a scientist doesn’t, and this contradiction causes conflict for the two of them. I was so happy when life brought them back together and forced a conversation they needed to have.

Allie and Milo are real, honest, and at times, messy people. This book highlights both our dependence on the digital world as well as how it allows us to connect so much with others. It’s hard to imagine another world where Allie and Milo could connect so authentically, but I’m sure glad they did in this one!
