ARC Review: Big Stick Energy by Sarina Bowen

Publication Date: June 30, 2026

If you’re in a post- Heated Rivalry and Off Campus slump like me, this is the kind of book to get me right out of it! Big Stick Energy was a great hockey romance full of delicious tension between Darcy and Eric, fake dating, chaotic families, and of course, hockey! These characters were hilarious and so real, and while this book did tackle some heavier topics surrounding grief, it was still warm and full of joy.

Darcy’s role as a staff member working for Eric’s team was a fun part of this story as well. Her dynamic with her boss made me laugh out loud more than once, and I loved seeing her have a positive experience as a woman working in sports. Darcy is certainly not afraid to have her voice heard, which is an amazing trait of hers!

Sarina Bowen may have been new to me before this book, but she won’t be a one hit wonder for me! I’m so excited for DeLuca’s story as well as the expansion of the world around Darcy and Eric. Hockey romance fans- this one is made for you!

Thank you to Forever and Grand Central Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this book! I received a free advance copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
