Yes, Chef brought Poppy and Jack together in such a fun way! While they’re so different on paper, the journey they go through in building a restaurant together showed just how similar they actually are. The setting of Diamond Bay in Florida was perfect and I laughed out loud at so many of the moments between them as they grew into more than just business partners.
I absolutely adored the found family in Yes, Chef. While Poppy and Jack are the epitome of the grumpy-sunshine trope early on, I loved seeing their friendship grow into a whole community around them. The characters of Chester and Kiara especially made me smile, and when Jack needed grounding, they were perfect for that.
Poppy’s journey of self-acceptance and love in this book was beautiful. Listening to the audiobook brought an extra level of emotion to this story in the hard times for both Poppy and Jack. Diamond Bay was a healing place for Poppy and it allowed for the two of them to connect in a truly deep and meaningful way.
